I chose Suyiba for several reasons;

1) Her design is pretty much feudal-Japanese style
2) A chance to truly develop her personality.
3) A chance to develop Charcoal and Darius’s personality.
4) Suyiba fights unarmed. She will be good practice for unarmed-fighting actions.

Of course, there are opponents in SDL with swords and spiky weapons. So I gave her some arm-brace here.

Skill:
Unarmed fighting. She is quite agile, always hopping back to her feet. She’s also pretty flexible with her movements. She dodges and evades really fast, so her opponents would have a hard time trying to hit her. However, her speed is only slightly above average. She might have trouble evading attacks from experienced fighters and samurais. But it all depends. If her opponents uses weapons, especially big ones, the advantage of speed would be on her side.

Weaknesses:
Naturally, not very strong. The only way she could pick up strength is when she has speed to pick up with.

And Suyiba... cannot swim. *O*;;;

Suyiba also has quite the ego, as she's quite confident of her own abilities. All it takes is someone to look down on her, and she'll react adversely, as demonstrated here: [link]

Weapon:
The arm-braces. They'd be useful against opponents with weapons, especially swords. They’re made of some kind of sturdy metal. However, they do hinder her arm movements to an extent. When she takes them off, her fist attacks would be much faster.

Background:
Little is known about Suyiba’s past. She seemed to pop up in a town, doing odd-jobs here and there to support herself. One thing for sure, she enjoys a good fight. In fact, she is more likely to start the fight before her would-be opponent could.

She is carefree and mostly cheerful. When she starts fights, she is always determined to win. “Never say die” is her motto, even if the opponent clearly out-matches her. In such situations, she will not hesitate to use whatever means necessary to win. But she will not act dishonourably, like attacking civilians, just to win a fight.

Because she fights unarmed, she tends to be at a disadvantage against skilled opponents. She relies on her surroundings and wit to win her fights. When she does lose a fight, she would be very dissatisfied and be like, “I’ll be back again”. That is if her opponent allows her to walk away alive.

A strange thing about her is that she seems to admire certain women who are older than her, clearly capable, beautiful, elegant, determined or of high stature. She doesn’t seem to react to men who are like that. Her adoration towards such women somtimes give people the wrong conception that she has an unnatural attraction to girls. She always denies these statements.

She is always seen hanging around Charcoal and Darius. Charcoal comes all the way from China. However, he was framed and was sentenced to execution by the Emperor. He managed to run away and end up in Japan. He bleached his skin dark so that no one could recognize him. He adopts Charcoal as his name, abandoning his old name so as not to embarrass his family. He specializes in using fireworks and fire-breathing techniques, always bringing flammable items and alcohol in his bag. He can fight unarmed like Suyiba… but he hardly ever fights at all unless someone attacks him first.

Both Charcoal and Suyiba live in Darius’s house. He seems to treat the two like family. Darius is quite a mystery; he never talks about his past or family. As to how he got the house, he only said that he inherited it.

Being the older of the two, Darius is calm and unflappable, with a pleasant attitude. He’s the kind who would think first before making a move. He is always seen with a smile on his face. He seems to know anything and everything, even those who are fighting in the Samurai Duel League. But when he is asked about this, he merely smiles and doesn’t answer. He is suspected to be a formidable fighter or a samurai, but he always evades that question and has never displayed such abilities. Charcoal and Suyiba, despite their curiosity, never insisted on his answer. They are grateful enough to have his friendship and being allowed to stay at his house.

Important note:
It is Suyiba who will do the fighting, not Charcoal and Darius. Those two are just tag-along friends, mere tools of narration of the fights.
