Full title: The Audition that will be or never will be
I messed up my EA-LEC comic page and I'm going nowhere with my plot for Byako Round 10. I just... wanted to work on something different.
I've been hearing some hype about this good ol' tourney called The Real OCT, hosted at . It's where you, yourself, is a contestant, and you can summon only 3 OCs to fight.
No, I don't think I'll be joining this tourney. I still have Byako to deal with, and it's my top artistic priority at the moment, and I have yet to even finish my 1st EA-LEC entry. To take on another tourney, with my wonderful time-management skills, would be nothing short but crazy (on my part, that is).
So why did I even draw this at all? Well.... In a way, this piece was a self-reflection. On certain occassions, I tend to get a little... unnecessarily emo. It got pretty bad, to the point that I wanted to save trouble and just quit drawing for good.
Of course after that, I realized that if I don't draw, I'm... well.... nothing (after which, I got over the emo period). I still don't think that I'll achieve my childhood dream with my current skills, but hey, that ain't gonna stop me from drawing comics. I may procrastinate and all, but I will still draw.
And then I realized that this sort of mental process would be a great basis for a plot/storyline for a tourney such as The Real OCT. So hey, why let the idea go to waste, eh? >=3
Do take note that the Diana in this piece is just a dramatization of myself. It's not entirely me... although the sleepy baggy eyes are rather accurate, haha.
It would be good to join this tourney, though... we'll just have to see. But if I was to, my chances to even get through the auditions would be slim, considering the current audition entries presented so far. And even if (only IF) I get through the auditions, I -will- have to use pencils all the way, because the deadline periods are 2 weeks. Quality compromise there, my friends.
Ah well. Let's see what happens later. Thanks for readin', peeps!

Oh yeah, those article snippets? They're about Nina Matsumoto, a.k.a. . Now that's one lady with mad skillz and deserves getting that childhood dream.
I wouldn't dismiss yourself so quickly. I've found your stories are often quite compelling and your art style is nothing to scoff at. In my (perhaps biased) opinion, I think you would have a fair shot at this tournament.
Haha, I'm completely in love with the second panel! Such sparkly, hope filled eyes. I like the idea you have here because it's so relatable. Would the three characters in the sketched be your summons? I spy Charcoal and Dorian, plus someone else.
As a side note I find that drawing myself results in a strange phenomenon... I tend to think I look like what I draw! This makes me confused when I look in the mirror sometimes...
