Introduction:

Introducing, Aldric Connivan! He's the Immortal of Ice, one of the politically powerful members of the Circle. He's renown as a brilliant strategist among them. While he acknowledges the importance of allies, he is notorious for being 'picky' about them.

In addition to having significant military power, he strives to improve the conditions of his vast territories. He places high emphasis on education, believing that the future can only be secured by learned people.

He aims to take total control over Elarthe, simply because he believes he can do a better job ruling it than all the pointlessly war-mongering Immortals. He doesn't care much for the 'Sovereign' title; in his opinion, its role is fast becoming that of a people-pleaser.

He is the proud father of Karlodden (who's featured here: diana-hnd.deviantart.com/art/E… ). Unlike most Immortals who have children for the sole purpose of using them, he has a genuine, close relationship with his son. The two would often sit together for secret plottings.

It was from such plottings that they had the idea to stir up sentiment that Karlodden would be better 'heir' material than Charcoal. The purpose is not to take over Charcoal's role, but to cast doubt on Basikis's adoption choice, and in turn, his judgement overall.


Personality:

He is rather arrogant, but has been making the effort to be more open-minded to new ideas.
Still, he maintains some of the mindset that "Immortals are better than mortals". The highest praise he could give to a mortal is when he says that he/she "would have make an outstanding Immortal".
He hates idiots, or when people do not use common sense, and does not hesitate to hide his contempt in such cases.
Surprisingly, he likes kids. Ironic, considering his general condescending perception towards most adults.
To goad him into a fight, you'd have to do more than mere insults to achieve it. Sometimes he'll go into it if he deemes the challenger as a worthy one. Or he'll do it because he wants to put idiots in their place.
He respects talented / intelligent people, but will not actively recruit them. Recruitment is a different story, which requires more than just brains.


Abilities & Traits:

Ice-manipulation, duh. He has lived long enough to be really creative in the use of ice, especially when it comes to killing people with it.
Using fire against him might work, but don't even think that it will give you a sure-win. This guy actually killed the Immortal of Fire a long time ago.
While he is able to fight unarmed, he favours the use of a halberd, or a melee weapon with long reach.
Fun fact: He is impervious to temperature changes. While he can tell if it's starting to get too cold or hot, neither temperature extremes will harm him. He shares this same trait with Charcoal.


Other notes:

Oh gawd shading and lighting will be the end of meeeeee. But eh, gotta make bad art to eventually do good art, right? Right?
While this guy's main power is ice, I intentionally did not want to give him 'snow-related' clothing. I tried to give him green clothing, but (a) it made him look like The Avengers' Loki, and (b ) blue started to look good on him after all.
